ISTAF Rudi Thiel Mile U20
As Meeting Director for ISTAF from 1968 to 2000 and Athletes Liaison Officer from 1949!, …. the title „Mr. ISTAF“ is very much entitled. Mr. ISTAF just turned 95!, and as a former middle distance runner, he wants to contribute to the future of middle distance running by inviting Europe’s best middle distance runners to the annual event ISTAF Rudi Thiel Mile U20 in the magnificent Berlin Olympic Stadium. Will we see the next Sebastian Coe, Fermin Cacho, Ron Delany, Klaus Richtzenhain, Paavo Nurmi, Henry Eriksson or Jakob Ingebrigtsen in this years race?

The 10 invited participants will be supported with travel and accomodation. They will compete for prize money of EUR 500, 400, 300, 200 and 100 for placing 1st to 5th, but most importantly experience a great race in a fantastic atmosphere in the Berlin Olympic Stadium! From 2024 on it will be similar competition for female competitors. Who will be the next Gabriella Dorio, Paula Ivan or Kelly Holmes?
Qualification
The field will be selected from the following:
2023 European U18 and U20 Medal 1500m winners
Winners from 2023 Designated Rudi Thiel Mile U20 races in Rome June 2nd, Oslo June 15th and Stockhom July 2nd.
The candidates to be selected must be forwarded by the Meet Organizer or athletes Membership Federation latest by August 10th, containing name, d.o.b., mobile, e-mail, qualifying competition result.
